The portrayal of 1000 years-old art and paintings, in all of Ladakh Alchi monastery is the oldest, was constructed in the eleventh century by the renowned translator Lostava Rinchen Zangpo. Unlike any other monasteries in Ladakh, which are heavily influenced by Tibetan Buddhist arts and paintings, the wall paintings at Alchi Monastery depict a unique confluence of Hindu and Buddhist arts of that era.
